Update - 5th February

Only a week to go to half-term! School has been buzzing again this week and we are all longing for the day when everybody can be back together - not too long to wait, I'm sure. Well done to everyone at home for their continued efforts to access home learning: we know it's not easy and whatever you manage to do is great. Fr Ross and Year 2 led a beautiful celebration of the Feast of Candlemas on Tuesday and it was lovely that so many of the children were able to join us online. He left us with the message to let our light shine and I'm sure all the children will continue to do so!

Grayson Perry Art Challenge

Mrs Bignell would like you all to take part in this! You can watch details about it here:

The first challenge for the children is on the subject of home/family (they are following the same themes as the TV series). The children are asked to draw/sculpt/collage/paint a scene in the house or a person in their family that has been significant to them during these last few weeks. There are more ideas here:

Message from the Council

Your collective efforts to help lower the number of cases of COVID-19 in Southampton continue to make a difference.

Over 34,000 first doses have been given in Southampton, approximately 13% of the population (latest data as of 2nd February 2021).

This is an incredible effort and in his latest video message the Leader of the Council, Cllr Christopher Hammond, puts on record his thanks to our NHS staff and all those involved in the programme. You can watch that latest video message update on the latest situation in Southampton here.

We need the infection rate to continue to fall as the rollout of vaccines continues at pace.

Do your part to Keep Southampton Safe. Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives.

Hearing Support

As we all know hearing impairments can affect a child’s speech and language development. In-Health have launched a new Paediatric Audiology website: https://www.inhealthgroup.com/service/paediatric-audiology/ . This includes a self-referral form – this has been introduced as it has been more challenging for families to be referred from professionals during the pandemic. If you need any support with this, let us know.

Children's Mental Health Resources

Mrs Mullin has put together some resources to help you support your child's emotions at this difficult time. You can download the activities from our website on the Covid page:

There are also further resources on the Place 2 Be website here:

Thank you to BT!

We're been waiting over 3 weeks for the government to provide even 1 router to help our families who have limited access to broadband and have yet to receive anything from them. However, we were delighted that BT have allocated us some free access for families in need and not only that, it was all sorted out in the space of 2 hours - a big shout-out to BT!

This Sunday's reading tell us the story of Job, a man who suffered countless disappointments and troubles: in situations like this, it is easy to believe that God has abandoned us. However, as Christians, we believe that God is with us more than ever in our trials and tribulations: Jesus invites us to pick up his cross and follow. Fr Ross will be in on Wednesday next week to lead our final liturgy before half-term - do try and join us online.

Have a lovely and safe weekend.
