Our wonderful upper school choir were asked to lead the music at the annual Diocesan Mass at St John's Cathedral in Portsmouth. It was an amazing experience for all the children as they had the chance to sing from the choir stalls in front of representatives from the 70 or so Catholic schools in the Diocese. Bishop Philip Egan presided at the Mass alongside Canon PJ.
We were supported by 2 talented Year 8 students from St George's College, our local Catholic secondary school who accompanied on drums and guitar and a music student, Miko from Solent University on guitar. Two of the Year 6 children sang the psalm from the Cathedral lectern and showed no signs of nerves singing in front of a packed cathedral.
The choir sang superbly as you can hear from the clips below, led by our inspiring musical director, Mrs Thomas, with Mr Lobo accompanying on piano and organ.
Afterwards, the choir enjoyed lunch in the park and a photo opportunity with the Bishop.
It was certainly a day they won't forget - and their next question is where can they sing next??
