Well it has been quite an unexpected and sudden end to the half-term! I do hope you all managed to keep safe today despite the dangerous weather conditions.
All the children have been practising their “short-burst writing” which was one of the new techniques teachers were learning about on our recent inset day and it has been so inspiring seeing the innovative and creative ways the children have been playing around with language – we truly have some budding authors in our school! Year F have finished their tour of Southampton and really loved seeing all the local sites – some quite scary moments!
Official Opening of the Library
As you will have seen from Mrs Conway’s flyer, we have the Mayor of Southampton coming to open our brand new library on the mezzanine floor on Thursday 3rd March – World Book Day. We are all very excited and it promises to be a grand occasion! We are hoping to film the event and stream for you, but need to confirm with the Mayor’s Office first if this is acceptable to them. There may also be an additional celebrity coming!
Uniform and PE Kit
Now that we are slowly emerging from the worst of the pandemic, please can I ask you to ensure that all children are in the correct uniform and PE kit when we return after the half-term break. We understand that it has been hard both financially and logistically over the past 2 years to obtain certain items, but now is the time for us to return to our normal expectations and encourage all the children to be proud to wear their St Patrick’s School uniform!
The correct list is on the website here:
Mr Porter has also arranged an optional PE kit for those who wish to purchase it with the school logo which you can buy online from this link:
If you are having any difficulties obtaining uniform, please contact Mrs Collins in the office for a confidential conversation and we will endeavour to help out.
Message from the School Council
This term, we have been very busy on the School Council getting ready for next half-term with so much coming up! Pancake day is coming up fast! Last week, we asked City Catering if they could organise pancakes for dessert for our school dinners so keep your eyes peeled for that message if they agree! We have a few more exciting events coming up including St Patrick’s Day and Red Nose Day for which we have ordered noses to sell at school. We have also been working closely with the SPSA and our sports team on the revitalisation of our playground getting a range of ideas from lots of children in our school. We hope you have a wonderful half term!
The School Council.
This Sunday is the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time and in the Gospel reading, Jesus instructs us to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us – what a difficult task he has set us! Maybe we can start in small ways by trying to always act with kindness to everyone around us. With Christ, love conquers all.
Have a lovely half-term break.
Michael Lobo
